Create a Free Download Form with Corresponding Workflow from Scratch

In this article, I show you how to create a form and then use it to trigger an automation to segment the contact who got your free download and automatically send it to them!

I am making a blog about what artists can do if Spotify takes down their music and accuses them of faking streams (even if they've never participated in such behavior! *gasp!*) I had ChatGPT create an appeals letter template that artists can use when reaching out to Spotify support. I then created it as a Google Docs document that I made available to view by anyone with the link and instructed people to make a copy to their own Drive in order to edit.

I could easily just link the Google Doc to the end of the blog article, but why miss an opportunity to gain some emails? This can be easily achieved by putting the template behind a form, so that somebody who wants it has to enter their name and email in order to receive it.

Step-by-Step Directions:

Step 1: Creating the Form

Start by creating a new form in a designated folder for organization.
Include fields for name and email only, keeping it simple.
Customize the form button and title for clarity and engagement.

Step 2: Setting Up Form Action

After users submit the form, direct them to the download URL. (I chose to do this to make it super simple. The downside is that they could put in a fake email).
Ensure the URL is set to be accessible to anyone with the link.

Step 3: Creating Workflow

Set up a new workflow corresponding to the form for automation.
Use the form submission as the trigger for the workflow.
Add filters to specify the form being submitted.

Step 4: Workflow Actions

Tag the users to track their source (e.g., blog post).
Send an email using default values for simplicity.
Include the download link in the email with a personalized message.

Step 5: Finalizing and Integrating

Publish the workflow to make it live.
Obtain the embed code for the form.
Add the embed code to the blog to make the form accessible. If you're integrating into a website or funnel created with GoalGetters, you don't need to use the embed code. Just add it as an element.

Step 6: Implementation

Preview the post to ensure the form appears at the end of the content.
Users can now fill in their details and access the free template download easily.
